Bidango FAQ

Q: Can I create a lot on Bidango even though I don’t currently pay for a subscription with pureholidayhomes.com?

A: Yes, you can create an “auction only” advert. You will still need to register an account on pureholidayhomes.com to do this though.

Q: Can I offer flexible dates for my auction?

A: Bidango is a site in which holidaymakers bid on a specific holiday at a specific time. If you have additional availability we would recommend submitting additional lots.

Q: What happens when my auction is won?

A: We take a 10% deposit (5% deposit on all lots advertised up to December 31st 2011) from the winning bidder, which we keep as our commission fee. You will then receive an email from us which will provide contact details for the winning bidder, so you can arrange payment of the remainder of the balance with them directly.

Q: What if I sell the availability via other means whilst the auction is still running?

A: If your auction has not yet met its reserve price, you can contact us at any time and we will be happy to remove it. However, if it has met its reserve price, you will not be able to remove the auction and must sell the holiday to the winning bidder, as per our terms and conditions.

Q: How long should I have my auction run for?

A: It is entirely at the owner's discretion as to how long you should have your auction run for. However, we would recommend that it run for at least a week in order to give it enough time to attract a good number of bids. Also, remember to give holidaymakers enough time between the auction ending and the holiday starting for them to organise transport etc.

Q: Can I edit my lot once it has been published?

A: You are more than welcome to contact us in order to edit any descriptions/photos of your property at any time. You are also welcome to contact us in order to change any details related to pricing (eg. reserve price or buy it now price) – but we cannot do this if the auction has already received one or more bids.

Q: What sort of discount should I offer?

A: Again, this is entirely at the owner's discretion. However, remember that the main draw to the customer of an auction website is to get some good deals that they might not find elsewhere - so we do recommend that an attractive looking discount is applied for an auction on Bidango.

Q: Can I promote my auction lot myself?

A: Absolutely. We would in fact recommend that you advertise the auction by, for example, linking to it through social media such as Facebook or Twitter, and also of course by promoting it amongst your own contacts!

Q: Can I bid on my own lot?

A: No. This is known as shill bidding, which is strictly prohibited by us, and is also against the law.
