Description
The villa is located on the alternative Costa del Sol, just a short walk from a choice of beaches which offer plenty of bars, cafes and sunbeds for hire. There are good local amentities which include a colourful market each Saturday morning, a variety of small shops and a supermarket. You will experience a taste of the real Spain as Caleta is a village where the Spanish still live and work. There is a pleasing lack of high rise apartment blocks, which litter most of the Spanish costas. Most of the holidaymakers are Spanish and it is very reasonable to eat and drink out.
In the summer months the complex boasts a charming swimming pool and the imposing tennis court is open all year round. The community are currently building a children's play area and short tennis courts.
The living area in the house has a log fire for those visiting in the cooler months and a ceiling fan for hotter weather. There is Sky TV, a DVD player and wireless internet access. There are also books and board games and some toys to amuse the children, both indoors and outdoors.
The pretty harbour, which is still serves as a working fishing port as well as a leisure marina. This is an ideal place to sit and have a drink or a meal, or just to feed the fish and watch the world go by. For those with more get up and go, a leisurely walk along the promenade will bring you to the larger town of Torre del Mar. This is a livlier place and is a very busy Spanish holiday resort. There are many restaurants which specialise in the plates of fried fish much loved by the Spanish. It is recommended that you go there for a stroll on Sunday evening (after nine - the Spanish eat late) and mingle with the Spanish taking their paseo (evening stroll) and perhaps stop for a plate of fish or an ice cream in one of the may ice cream parlours. Night life is very Spanish and starts late, at midnight until dawn. Just past Torre del mar the beach is totally undeveloped with a small lagoon. If you walk in the opposite direction from Caleta you reach the smaller, but very pleasant resort of Algarrobo.
Those with strong nerves can hire a car and take a drive around the famous white villages in the mountains. The less brave could take a trip to the local resevoir, lake Vinuela and from there visit the nature reserve..
There is a regular bus service to the larger town of Nerja. This is a trip that everyone should make in order to stroll along the famous Balcon d'Europe and to visit the aweinspiring caves discovered by two boys out playing in the 1950s. Modern road links make a trip to Granada a must in the cooler months. Or you can just stay in the house relaxing on on of the terraces, drinking the local wine whilst enjoying a barbecue.
There is a waterpark nearby (summer months only) and golfers are less than 5 minutes away from the Baviera Golf Course. Horse riding, boat trips and other activities are also available locally.
