Immediate area: Blue Bay is on the coast near the village of Bahceli about 20 minutes drive from Kyrenia. The area is ideal for swimming, sailing, walking, bird watching, and horse riding. There is a championship golf course about 15 minutes to the West. To the east you will find wonderful sandy beaches some of the best in the Mediterranean, e.g. Karpas beach and traditional North Cyprus villages. Lara beach, with sunbeds, shades and a small café, is 15 minutes drive West. Alagadi, a Turtle Watch beach, is 15 minutes from Blue Bay. Acapulco, a hotel complex with all facilities including an aqua park, bars and restaurants, is about 20 mins away.

Further afield: Kyrenia is excellent for shopping for local crafts (e.g. Turkish delight and kilims) and there are lovely restaurants around the old harbour, specializing in seafood. There are many museums and castles in the area, - including an imposing castle and shipwreck museum on the harbour in Kyrenia and the beautiful Bellapais Abbey on the hill above Kyrenia with spectacular views of the coast. There are several excellent restaurants in Bellapais village, all with panoramic views. Kantara castle is a crusader fortress built into the hilltop in a stunning location with wonderful views across the island. Also worth a visit are: Famagusta (Gazimagusa) to see the Roman City of Salamis; Nicosia (Lefkosa) to see the beautiful Selimiye Mosque, and The Great Turkish Bath which dates back to the Ottoman period or walk the old streets and browse around the local craft shops.

Restaurants/shops: Nearby Bahceli is a very traditional village, with a small shop. Esentepe village, approximately 8 minutes drive away, has good restaurants with excellent food at very reasonable prices. There are other restaurants a short drive away. Emily's Bar is on site and serves good local food. There are good supermarkets close by and hypermarkets near Kyrenia. One of our favourite places to eat is the harbourside at Kyrenia - described in the guide books as "one of the most picturesque harbours in the Mediterranean". There are many restaurants here, most specialising in fish.
Most people speak English, driving is on the left, electric sockets are the same as England. You can even pay in sterling in many outlets.

There are also outdoor shower facilities. The villa is equipped with sun loungers and parasols for guest's use around the pool. The villa is ideal for outside dining with the choice of either the downstairs patio area overlooking the private garden, which has two barbecues, gas or charcoal, or the upstairs sun-terraces, each having a table and two chairs.

Coast/Beach
Vardas Beach, with it's beach-side restaurant is a 15 minute walk and has a lovely grassed area with sun loungers and parasols. There are many beaches around the Paphos area including Coral Bay, one of the most popular beaches in Cyprus, with Blue Flag EU certification, complete with all facilities, water sports, snack bars, shops and restaurants and can be reached by car (5km) or you can catch the bus on the coast road.

Golf
Cyprus offers an all year round enjoyable golfing experience. There are 3 courses all within easy reach.

Skiing:
Troodos (just over an hours drive) has an expanding ski area resort with four pistes - two beginners slopes and intermediate and advanced runs on the north face. The skiing season lasts a couple of months a year, peaking in February.

How to get there
Paphos airport 25 mins by car. Larnaca airport 1hr 30mins. Collection to and from the airport can be pre-arranged for you. Car hire not essential, but recommended.

Distances:
Kissonerga is well located, and ideally positioned to explore the many places to visit. The village can be reached on foot in 5 mins. There is also a choice of tavernas which come highly recommended, within walking distance on the coast road. 10 minute drive up to Tala village square is a true taste of Cyprus with many traditional tavernas to be enjoyed.

Further details
Hiring a car is not essential but is recommended for those who want to explore all that Cyprus has to offer. A drive up to the pine clad Troodos Mountains is recommended and traditional villages include Lania, Omodos and Kakopetria or visit the beautiful monastery of Agios Neofytos. For a nice day out you can head to the popular fishing harbours of Polis and Latchi. Cyprus has the best of both, there is 'old' Cyprus offering charm and tradition or 'new' Cyprus which is livelier and modern. It is all there to be enjoyed, so your holiday is truly what you make it. Paphos town and harbour has an array of shops, restaurants and bars for a good evening out and Paphos fort often stages special attractions throughout the year. For the daytime, if you are adventurous Paphos Water Park is reached in 15 mins drive and is great for the kids. Many special interest holidays can be enjoyed such as fishing, cycling or birdwatching. A Spring visit to Cyprus provides some of the most exciting birding in all Europe. We can also arrange collection from the airport.

Kate's apartment with beautiful views in Cyprus

Our two bedroom air conditioned apartment is on the second floor which can be reached by lift or stairs, it has a double bed in the Master bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom, both bedrooms have views of the sea and to Paphos lighthouse, both have fitted wardrobes, mirror, bedside table,and there is a hair dryer. There is a family bathroom. There is a large living area with private balcony which over looks the swimming pool and has views to the mountains. The sofa can also be turned into a bed, so you can be comfy whilst watching your english speaking programs on tv. There a fully fitted kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven, fridge freezer,washing machine, microwave, ketttle, toaster,pots, pans, plates,bowls, cutlery also an extending dining table with six chairs. The apartment will sleep up to six , linen and towels included (please bring your own beach towels)and there is also a travel cot as a optional extra as is the welcome pack.

The apartment, although in a quiet area, it is within 2 minutes walking distance of the Tomb of the Kings road where there are scores of restaurants, english pubs(several with big screen TVs),clubs, internet cafes,cafes, kiosks, bakery, bars, banks and bus stop to Coral Bay, harbour, old market etc. The Lighthouse / Faros Beach is a mere 500m walk! Paphos Harbour is approximately 10/15 minute walk where you have dozens of places to eat, drink and shop.The beach is only 10 minutes walk, The Ophandines supermarket is within 2 minutes walk, there is a lower level( might be the place to find the gifts to take home) which I missed the first couple of times. The old Market and town centre, the Harbour, Paphos new Sea Front, Castle the House of Mosaics and bar street are easily walked to within 20 minutes. You will be quite likely to have the swimming pool to yourselves because it is only a small complex of apartments and most of the owners are keeping them for their own use.

A car is not required for a stay at the apartment but please remember to book your own transfer from the Paphos airport or there are always several taxis there if you forget.

The buses run in a loop:- the old Market, the Harbour, Tomb of the Kings road, Coral Bay, Tombs of the Kings road, the old Market. There is also a bus which runs to the Water Park. The closest bus stop is on the Tomb of the Kings road, two minutes walk.

The apartment, although in a quiet area, it is within 2 minutes walking distance of the Tomb of the Kings road where there are scores of restaurants, english pubs(several with big screen TVs),clubs, internet cafes,cafes, kiosks, bakery, bars, banks and bus stop to Coral Bay, harbour, old market etc. The Lighthouse / Faros Beach is a mere 500m walk! Paphos Harbour is approximately 10/15 minute walk where you have dozens of places to eat, drink and shop.The beach is only 10 minutes walk, The Ophandines supermarket is within 2 minutes walk, there is a lower level( might be the place to find the gifts to take home) which I missed the first couple of times. The old Market and town centre, the Harbour, Paphos new Sea Front, Castle the House of Mosaics and bar street are easily walked to within 20 minutes. You will be quite likely to have the swimming pool to yourselves because it is only a small complex of apartments and most of the owners are keeping them for their own use.

Holiday house in Kato Paphos

Icarus House occupies a corner position which is ideal as there are small secluded garden areas to the side and rear, both with patios. The pool is just a few steps away, but because of the corner position if you just want a quiet drink on the patio you will not be disturbed by people using the pool. The garden areas have gates so your small children cannot wander off. There is also a roof terrace which is ideal for private sun-bathing, as adjacent properties do not have roof terraces.
Inside the house the large living room has sliding glass doors from both the lounge area and dining area, leading out to patios. The kitchen is well equipped, with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, full oven, hob, and plenty of pans, crockery and utensils, etc. There is also an ironing board and iron, plus pegs and a washing line.

It is situated on small friendly complex in a residential area of Paphos. It is within walking distance of the the tourist area of Kato Paphos where you will find a large supermarket, numerous restaurants, bars and smaller shops, as well as the harbour area with the old fort. Also within walking distance is the older part of Paphos (Pano Pafos - or Upper Paphos as it is situated on a hill). In this part of town there is a daily market, selling all sorts of things from fresh veg. to souvenirs. A bus service runs close to the house and there are several mini-supermarkets within a few minutes walk from the house. Many people have enjoyable holidays without hiring a car. Everything you need is available within walking distance, and if you fancy a change of scene you can get buses to other areas - for example Coral Bay. There are also tour operators offering various trips, but for the more independent traveler, car hire does give the chance to explore at your own pace.

Additional information about rental rates

The price above includes end of stay cleaning and laundry at £65.
For stays of two weeks or more a weekly clean and change of laundry is included. If you stay for more than one week but less than two weeks then only the end of stay clean and laundry is included, but if you want a mid-stay clean or laundry change then it can be arranged at cost.
If you want to stay for less than the minimum number of nights stated then the cost is the number of nights times the nightly rate plus £60.
A refundable deposit of £250 is required in case of damage, lost keys, etc. This is fully refundable if there are no problems.
We can offer very favourable rates for longer stays. From November to February for stays of a month or more we charge only £150 a week, but this does not include the cleaning charge which is payable on top. For example, 6 weeks during the winter period would cost 6 x £150 plus £60 = £960.

Living room notes:
The spacious living room includes an entrance hall area containing a bookcase with an information folder and a selection of books. Then there is a dining area (see above). In the lounge area there's a radio/CD player, TV, two sofa beds and a couple of other easy chairs, as well as coffee tables. In addition to the air-conditioning unit there is a free-standing fan. Around the house are several halogen heaters which will rarely be required, except for the odd chillier evening in the middle of winter.
Sliding glass doors lead from the lounge area to the patio at the rear of the house.

Dining room notes:
The dining table is in a stylish light oak, and comes with 6 leather covered chairs. For larger parties the table extends and will easily seat 8 (with a couple of chairs from the bedrooms). Sliding glass doors lead from the dining area to the patio at the side of the house.
Hire of a high chair is possible.

Bedroom notes:
All three bedrooms have air-conditioning and fitted wardrobes with hangers. Hair driers are provided. (Plugs are 3-pin, the same as in UK). The double bedroom at the back of the house has an alarm clock. This room also has a safe for your valuables, as well as a balcony with views of the swimming pool. We can arrange for the hire of a baby's cot.

As well as the main bathroom on the first floor, with a shower over the bath, there is a downstairs toilet and shower room. The water pressure is good. The hot water is solar heated, although there is also an immersion heater for the odd day in winter when the sun may not be quite up to the job
