La Coqueta is a recently restored 200 year old Spanish farmhouse perfectly situated inland from the Costa del sol in the rural heart of beautiful Andalusia. The house is surrounded by olive groves and mountains but only 40 minutes away from Granada airport, 50 minutes from Malaga airport and 10 minutes away from Villanueva del Trabuco. It's the perfect family self catering holiday home with its own private swimming pool. The house can be let as one, sleeping up to 10, or be divided to provide two holiday homes each sleeping 4/5.

La Coqueta is one of the oldest houses in the area and its has history. It is a history that is recorded in the journals of the Antequerra Comarca of the southern Spain. Rumor has it that the house used to be a venta and that La Coqueta received its name from the antics of the antics of "The Fair Lady Of Spain" who owned it. The literal translation of "La Coqueta" is the "Flirt". The local one, skittish and fun. Somehow, and even today. The house seems to have retained something of this atmosphere.

Carefully and lovingly restored, La Coqueta retains many traditional cottage features: wooden beamed ceilings, thick solid stone walls, floors of traditional tile, stone and cobble to keep La Coqueta cool in the summer months. Low, old, oak doors swing on primitive wooden hinges and even the light switches have been designed to replicate the ceramic originals. La Coqueta's charm is expressed through its rustic simplicity.

La Coqueta can be let as one four bed-roomed house, or divided to provide two completely private two bed-roomed houses. As one house its an ideal holiday rental for two families or groups going away together as you can each have your own house, space and privacy. But join in together when the mood takes you.

Renting the whole house provides you with 4 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms, a dining room and a dining area. Two of the bedrooms are double bedrooms, one is a twin and the last is a most delightful and unusual bunk-bedded room where the bunks are built into the stone structure of the house, children love it.

Outside the house is divided into three areas: The front terrace, rear terrace, and at the side of the house. The private 6 x 4m swimming pool. Bot h front and rear terraces are provided with their own BBQ to make the most of Al fresco eating.

Just one of the benefits La Coqueta has to offer is the stunning countryside that surrounds of the house. Mountains, olive groves, fields of wheat and corn and the ruby rich red soil combine to provide some of the finest vistas in Southern Spain. This, combined with the quality of light and the deep cyan sky's attract many fine artists and painters to this area which is rich in natural beauty. All the pictures have been taken within ten minutes of the house.

The countryside surrounding La Coqueta allows us to to take a backward glance into the past. The past of "Old" Spain, a Spain of simple days and simple pleasures. You see not that much seems to have really changed around the area.

The house still sits amidst the acres of olive groves. Beyond these are the fields of grain and wild flowers. And beyond these, the mountains of Sierra den San Jorge. The gentle chimes of the goat bells are still heard as they make their way past the house on the way to their morning and evening grazing.

The Comarca that surrounds La Coqueta is an area of outstanding natural beauty. In summer, the hues of the dark green olive trees mix with the barley yellow of the fields. The ocher of the soil and the cool grey tones of the mountains and above all of this, the deep, bright cyan sky.

Another distinct advantage is La Coqueta's central location and good transport links. This makes it an ideal venue for sight seeing. Malaga, the Costa del Sol and Granada are all less than an hour away. The historic town of Antequerra is only 30 minutes away and Sevilla, Ronda and Cordoba are within easy striking distance. Alternatively, enjoy the peace of the many pretty white washed villages that are dotted around the area.
